🪶Thank God for the #OsceolaTurkey🪶 . With just a week left in the 2026 season we are closing the book on this chapter of #SpringTurkey season. This year we had folks travel thousands of miles to collect their first Osceola, to complete Grand Slams, and to finish out their Royal Slams. I can say unequivocally that this turkey season taught me more through my clients and the birds we pursued! The biggest lesson had to be you never have it all figured out until Tom is floppin’! Thank you to everyone that trusted us in their pursuit to an Osceola!

…… Sun’s Down…Gun’s Down …. 🦆 . This season met us with many challenges having very low to NO water where we typically hunt, sprayed lakes that have held birds for many years being devoid of vegetation, and large concentrations of birds in areas holding large concentrations of duck hunters. When the water levels are this low birds will concentrate in certain areas as thick as the folks chasing them. Finding concentrations of birds away from the hoards of hunters is the name of the game! We didn’t burn them everywhere, but we burned them somewhere at least a time or two! 🦆 Thanks to the BOSS @mrsbleto for holding it all together on the home front! Love you woman 💋 Thanks to all of the friends, family, and new guests that joined us this season. PSA: Long post ahead…. 🦌 . Hunter, my father, and I road tripped up to Pike County, Illinois this past weekend to hunt with @hunthadleycreek . This is our first #deerhunting trip as a trio out of state, and it did not disappoint to say the least. I was fortunate enough to kill my best buck with my son sitting right by my side! All of which was made possible by my pops @fdleto for booking this trip, and giving me an early birthday gift of a @henry_rifles .350Legend! 3 days of sitting in the deer blind with my boy watching absolute stud #whitetail graze soybean fields and on the prettiest food plots ramped up this kids deer IQ at warp speed. We watched bucks up to the 170” class chase does, breed does, fight other bucks, and play hard to get! Over our 30 hours on stand we watched a whopping total of 102 deer with countless great bucks. Last night was our last sit and Hunter and I couldn’t get the deer to get in range for an ethical shot. Our guide put us in his best stand on the farms he guides and we watched 4 great deer DOG a doe down for an hour. All of them staying beyond 350 yards. A 130” 10pt, 120” 8pt, 150”10pt, and a 170” 12pt had us STRESSING as minutes ticked away to the end of legal light. As 5:12 rolled over on the clock, Hunter slid the bolt back on his gun, pulled his cartridge out, looked at me with a sad face, and said, “they’re just deer, dad…next time.” Right then and there we thanked the Lord for our time together in the blind, and the opportunity to see the incredible things we witnessed. We hugged it out, he shed 1 tear, I had something in my eye so I had one or two as well, we wiped that mess off, and he said, “Dad, next time I’m killing a GIANT.” 🩵 🦌 We’re on the way back, momma @mrsbleto ! 💙 T E A L ‘ T E M B E R 💙 . . Y’all….twas a HOT one out there and all I can say about the Noseeums is yeeewwwww 😬!!! 🦆 Over the past several years we’ve noticed fluctuations in numbers and movement of birds pushing south from day to day. This year was undoubtedly the least amount of teal I’ve seen migrate during the early season. I whole heartedly believe that USFWS got it right when they said the #bluewingteal was down over 25%. 🦆 Regardless of the numbers we had a great time out at the Cast&Blast Teal lodge with @bayportairboattours and @southernslam_outfitters ! 🦆 Ducks were shot, fish were caught, firehouse chefs threw down on some great meals, we told lies, some told more, and fun was had on every hunt. Other than a couple more heavy straps I couldn’t have asked for a better time with family and new friends. All in all we scratched out 33 #Ricerockets over the short 5 day #EarlyTeal hunt!
